Celtic could once again swing back around to a Scottish star they previously had interest in until the deal fell through last summer.
Celtic are in need of reinforcements and quickly ahead of the season which starts on August 2nd. Up until this point the Hoops have only subtracted and it looks likely that even more players will be on their way out. Additions need to happen quickly.
One of those possible additions that could make their way to Parkhead is Motherwell star David Turnbull. The Scotland international had a deal all but in place to make the move to Celtic until the deal fell through due to a medical issue later revealed to be a knee issue.
Turnbull has been on the Hoops’ radar for quite some time, and now that the knee issue seems all but non-existent, it seems Celtic are circling back to try and snag him. Or at least the interest has been rekindled.
According to the Daily Mail, Celtic scout Nicky Hammond made the trip to watch Turnbull in a closed-door tuneup match when his Motherwell took on Kilmarnock earlier last week. While this could be the Hoops just doing their due diligence, it does prove that there is at least some interest there. After a near complete deal fell through it makes sense that Celtic may try to circle around and complete the move if the money and motivation is right.
In any case, the Hoops need to start making quality additions to the club. The season is right around the corner and it might be a good idea to swoop in quick, instead of waiting it out till the last moment. The quicker they come in through the door, the more time they’ll have to settle in.
