Rangers facing fine from French FA for pre-season mistake
Rangers could be in trouble with the French FA as their kit deal with Castore has not started out as well as that they would have hoped for.
Much to the amusement of Celtic fans, it is always one thing or the other up with the Rangers as they keep on finding ways to get in trouble. So after they managed to ‘win’ the pre-season tournament held in France this week, it was not uncommon to see a few of their fans claim on Twitter that they were going to stop 10-in-a-row from happening after the club were done placing the Veolia Trophy beside the equally prestigious Petrofac Training Cup in their trophy cabinet.
The Ibrox club could be facing a fine at the hands of the French FA soon though as nobody seemed to give them the memo that gambling or alcohol sponsors are not allowed on football kits in France and have not been for quite some time now.
Celtic fans would have noticed that the famous Hoops did not have their usual Dafabet or Magners sponsorship on the shirt for the same reason. But the Rangers decided to play both their games with the 32 Red sponsorship on the front of their new Castore kit.
Now, why did not they bother making the same change that Celtic so efficiently did? Well probably because they were not aware of the rule in the first place. Or it might even be that they could not be provided with the new kits in time. After all, there has already been a lot of controversy regarding the distribution of their shirts this season already.
Now it will be interesting to see whether the French FA decide to take some action this time around after already letting them loose one time by not reported Ryan Kent’s red card to the Scottish FA.
