You couldn’t make it up! The Rangers following bunch who harp on endlessly about dignity have illustrated that most of them don’t have a clue on what it really means.

We all laughed a bit when Rangers without a hint of irony launched their Everyone Anyone campaign proclaiming: “Rangers is proud to be a modern, diverse football club.”

And then consistently their fans let them down by showing how increasingly ridiculous they can be in trampling all over their self satisfying principles. That’s how much Celtic‘s successes seem to be under their skins at the moment.

They are doing a bit more trampling currently. The Daily Record carries the news of The Bristol Bar in Duke Street where the customers and staff are presumably sniggering like schoolboys at their latest jape. Let’s get everyone jumping on a picture of Scott Brown’s head they thought and then made happen.

The bar opened again on Wednesday after a makeover and like many had to add some social distancing measures. They managed to get confused by the word social rather than antisocial

To help space out customers in the bar they’ve added images to the flooring.  You can imagine the committee meeting where they debated what images to have. ‘Union Jacks’ growls a bear, then another suggests a picture of Scott Brown’s head on the floor so they can stamp on him. ‘Not enough’ says another, ‘Give him clown make up!’ ‘Hold my beer, let’s add ‘Feel free to stamp on this clown’ next to the picture’. And that’s what they put in place in the pub. Honestly.

It seems as if no one managed to think about whether standing on a Union Jack image shows the same disrespect to the flag. In the same way no-one thought about dignity, respect, everyone, anyone.

But let’s face it, are we surprised? Not a bit. It’s pretty normal and secretly Broony will continue to delight in how much he gets under their skin. But it’s a ridiculous state of affairs these days and the last word about these fans goes to Nil By Mouth charity Director David Scott:

"“There’s a fine line between football rivalry and nastiness and this pub has misjudged it. No one’s asking fans to walk arm in arm down Sauchiehall Street singing Kumbaya but basic levels of human decency shouldn’t be too much to expect.”"

Aye right David. That’ll be the day!
