Up next is a super flop. Sold for millions, loaned out for months. Why bother? Well if we want a wild card in here, this might be it. Iturbe sure has form, talent and blistering skill. He is another, who at times, has carried the “just like” Lionel Messi tag. And another who hasn’t quite lived up to it. Yet, Celtic have dealt with talented players who are off form, have then joined the club and turned into greats. Chris Sutton from Chelsea being a great example of a turn around in form.

Back in 2014 he joined Verona from Porto for £15 million, a hefty signing for the Italian club. But they maybe saw a quick profit rather than a flaw when they sold him on to Roma within a few weeks for £22.5 million plus add-ons. After a promising start things didn’t quite work out and even a move to English Premier League AFC Bournemouth in January 2016 on loan led to just two appearances.

He’s still only 27-years old so pace and form won’t have deserted him. Trickery on the ball and free kick abilities are also there to be admired. He’s a Paraguayan international who has switched from playing for his country then swapping to Argentina and back again. Brave lad!

Over the last couple of years he’s been playing in Mexico but is now out of contract and available if Celtic fancied the opportunity to see if he would settle and work hard in Glasgow. The weather, distance and past experience may deter him, but there is a real player in there that might just be worth the gamble.
