Odsonne Edouard looks set for kit number change next season

Odsonne Edouard is staying at Celtic, for the time being at least, with some changes looking set to be made for the upcoming season.

Odsonne Edouard has always sported the number 22 during his time with Celtic but now he is being marked with a new one that could be a good omen for 10-in-a-row.

It is possible that Edouard is now lucky number 7. He joins all time Hoops greats like Jimmy Johnstone and Henrik Larsson in wearing the charm of the Scottish club on the pitch. He’s definitely earned the number with his impressive resume; taking part in the treble treble, scoring 46 goals for the Scottish giants, being shortlisted for The Golden Boy awards in 2018, and has nabbed himself the title of Celtic’s Star’s Player of the Year Award as voted by the fans.

Celtic minded have posted that you can select the number 7 Edouard jersey on the main Celtic site.

It does seem that the move is not yet official, as the first team line up page on CelticFC.net still shows the striker carrying the number 22. If you are thinking of picking yourself up a number 7 Edouard jersey, I would hold off until it is made official as it may have been a mistake. It would be fitting to put the number back in circulation as a good luck charm, first team could do with a bit of magic as the new season and the quest for ten-in-a-row continues.

The significance of a number change also suggests that the top striker will remain at the team this coming season and will not test the waters in other leagues.

Other top teams, at home and abroad, are seeking the talented player out but he is staying with Celtic for now after Neil Lennon revealed the price tag for taking one of his most crucial players away before a historic season for the club.

It is unlikely that he will transfer to clubs like Crystal Palace or Leeds United, who have shown great interest in him over the week. We will see if the rumours for touted striker do not fade away following a series of friendlies with French football teams starting this month. One of which is Edouard’s former team, Paris Saint Germain.
