Celtic legend Chris Sutton takes aim at Steven Gerrard in his latest rant about the Rangers manager after latest excuses emerge.

Chris Sutton has never been one to mince his words, in fact, it’s quite refreshing. He is one of the few voices in the media who speak sense when it comes to Scottish football. That is easy to say when he is generally favourable towards Celtic, where he is known as a legend, but he isn’t afraid to call it like he sees it even when it comes to the Hoops.

Now, he has taken aim at Rangers manager Steven Gerrard in a recent interview with TEAMtalk. Gerrard was a big money name brought in to help Rangers win trophies. He was given plenty of freedom to bring in high-dollar signings to help get the mission completed. Instead, Gerrard has utterly failed to bring even a single trophy to Ibrox and he is left holding his excuses in his hands.

This was the basic premise for Sutton’s rant about the manager and his club. To be fair, it was spot on, and if it were coming from anyone else it could be seen as tough love. But we know there is no real love there. Instead, it is just a fun read to see what Sutton has to say to Gerrard and his club.

Speaking on TEAMtalk in an exclusive interview, here are some snippets of what the big man had to say:

"“The Rangers fans have a lot of faith in Steven Gerrard and want to believe is he the man who can take them back to the promised land and stop Celtic, but he has proved nothing so far.“He’s not won a trophy for two seasons and now the pressure is on him. Gerrard needs to stop coming up with the excuses and deliver and trophies are all that count when you are Rangers manager. . .“I know Rangers were moaning and groaning about the way the season ended, but they were 13 points behind Celtic and there was no way they were going to make up that ground, so they only had themselves to blame for losing the title.”"

Could that be why he is connected with moves out of Glasgow after just two season?
