Celtic have provided some major update regarding the season ticket for the upcoming 10IAR campaign, with the deadline for existing holders coming up.

The ‘Virtual Season Ticket’ for the upcoming season has been a huge topic of debate in Scottish footballing circles. With fans in Scotland not able to watch the the games on television or Celtic TV, going to the stadium was their only way of watching The Hoops in action. Unfortunately, with the global pandemic putting a stop to all mass gatherings for the foreseeable future, that is no longer possible.

In this situation the SPFL managed to come up with the concept of the virtual season ticket, which is nothing but a glorified online subscription to watch the games next season from home. The prices are as high as that of a normal season ticket though and with the global pandemic having caused a lot of financial distress to a lot of people around the world, it is not possible for every holder to renew their ticket at this point of time.

The deadline for existing holders to renew is on 7th July though and the club took the opportunity to remind them about it on their official site while also announcing that 17,000 people were already on the waiting list. This means that the season tickets which are not renewed will most likely be snapped up in the blink of an eye, especially with 10IAR up for grabs.

This is not an ideal situation though as a number of long-term season ticket holders are on course to lose theirs and the club must reach a middle ground with them. Celtic cannot be blamed for trying to recouping as much as the matchday revenue that they can with the pandemic wrecking financial havoc upon them.

Next season, they must give another opportunity to the current season ticket holders who failed to renew for the upcoming campaign. That is only fair considering the extraordinary conditions right now.
