Premier League star has caught the eye of the Celtic boss
The Premier League star appears to have caught the eye of the Celtic manager, who he described as being ‘just magnificent’.
As Neil Lennon seeks out the winning formula for the final push to 10IAR a talented winger has caught his eye. Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle United fame has impressed the boss with a return against Aston Villa this Wednesday evening. He sang the young man’s praises to the folks over at BBC Sport.
Everything is starting to open up again with the Premier League rearing its head this week to deliver a few cracking match ups. The winger shined and caught the Celtic manager’s eye. He had this to say about the 23 year old:
"“Allan Saint-Maximin is just magnificent. Magnificent strength, control but he just let himself down with the finish.“The attributes that he’s got, if he can polish them off, he’d be a brilliant player. He’s great to watch.”"
He gave a high output on Wednesday evening, putting himself in position to take shots from the wing. When he wasn’t aiming for the net he was setting his teammates. WhoScored did a great job detailing the stats that the Frenchman was putting out against Villa.
With a pass accuracy of 73.9%, 52 touches, attempted 10 dribbles attempts, and two clearances the Newcastle winger certainly played a busy game. A serious output that Lennon has an appreciation for as the winger has made 17 starts for Newcastle United this season alone, including the chunk of time lost during the lock down.
He’s scored three goals for the club since signing with Newcastle in 2019, making it a career total of 16 goals in a career that is barely six years old. Now, he is locked into his six year contract with Newcastle and Celtic have not been looking for the talent directly. But should The Hoops be on the lookout for a winger such as himself?
The push is coming sooner rather than later, where could Celtic find a hard grafter like Allan Saint-Maximin on short notice?
