Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo will likely see his exit from the club this summer. He now reacts to the rumours linking him to Celtic.
Celtic may be in need of a new goalkeeper come the 10-in-a-row campaign. Southampton loanee Fraser Forster may not return due to high weekly wages and his parent club unwilling to budge on a transfer fee for their out of favour keeper. The Hoops next best bet is Craig Gordon who clearly won’t be returning after going public when he felt the Hoops’s offer wasn’t good enough.
With all of this in mind Celtic has been looking at other options to play in between the sticks. Vasilios Barkas has been connected to the club as has the Manchester City product Claudio Bravo. While neither are quite the player Forster is, at least in the eyes of Hoops fans, they could prove to be a valid solution in the upcoming campaign.
So, what do some of these players think when they are linked to numerous clubs during transfer window? Of course there has to be some type stress, as well as excitement when being connected to clubs across all of Europe.
Well, speaking with Glasgow Live, Claudio Bravo had this to say about being connected with several clubs including Celtic:
"“There is nowhere in the world I would not consider playing.“I’ve read the names of the clubs that have been linked with me and I regard that as an honour because they are very good clubs.“I’m proud that I have attracted interest from the clubs mentioned.“What I and my family are looking for is a club with stability and a comfortable environment to live.“It depends on several factors, it depends on the club and the project that the club has.“I will consider all my options and make a decision soon.”"
Celtic is one of those clubs that he has been linked to, and with a club with as much history as the Hoops, especially with the upcoming campaign, it would be a massive honour for a player to be pursued by the Hoops.
While Bravo may not have the same ring as Forster, the keeper has experience in the English Premier League and could prove to be a valuable and veteran asset in a season in which Celtic will hope to win the 10IAR as well as qualify for the Champions League Group Stage.
