Delusional Kris Boyd slams Celtic for treatment of player
Kris Boyd appears to be unfamiliar with the world of football as he has for some reason decided to slam Celtic for their treatment of an outgoing star.
Celtic fans are not unfamiliar with Kris Boyd making ridiculous statements about the club as he has done it very often since swapping his football boots for a pundit’s seat. Having spent six seasons at Ibrox, it is no surprise that his view is completely biased but even then some of the remarks make you scratch your head and question what he was thinking when came up with them. And his recent statement is one of those mind boggling ones.
Boyd feels that Celtic have mistreated Craig Gordon, who looks to be on his way out of Parkhead having fallen down the pecking order. Now lets not forget that Gordon is 37 years old and it is understandable that his time to leave the club would eventually come. Even then the board did offer him a contract but he is expected to leave in order to find a team where he can get some regular football before hanging the gloves up.
Boyd though has somehow taken this as a sign of disrespect for the veteran on the part of the club. He wrote in his column in The Scottish Sun:
"“He could have left the club and signed a huge, mega-money contract with Chelsea just a few years ago.“But Craig chose to stay and let his heart rule his head.“Yet here he is, out of contract and almost out on his ear.“After six unbelievably successful years he’s been offered a new deal on vastly reduced wages.“From experience, I’d say it’s the type of offer Celtic know he’s going to turn down.“Neil Lennon doesn’t seem to rate him, does he? Not really.”"
When Gordon signed his contract extension back in 2017, he was the first-choice goalkeeper. Today he is the third-choice behind Fraser Forster and Scott Bain. Is it that much difficult to understand why the club would not offer him the same salary? In fact, it is a sign of respect that the club actually offered him a contract.
At the end of the day, Boyd takes any opportunity he gets to claim that the Rangers are about to dislodge Celtic from the top of the Premiership, although we are yet to see them even come close in years. So feel free to take anything he says with a pinch of salt.
