It looks like Fraser Forster might end up staying at Parkhead after a long drawn transfer saga between Celtic and Southampton.
The future of Fraser Forster has bee a point of great interest to Celtic fans over the past several weeks as the club look to make his loan deal from Southampton permanent. But that has not turned out to be an easy task as many reports suggest that the Premier League side are playing hardball over the keeper’s transfer fee.
Forster has not been a part of first-team plans at Southampton for several seasons. A move back to Parkhead though helped him rediscovering his form and soon he looked like the world class goalkeeper that we always knew he was. His performance in the Scottish League Cup final against the Rangers to clinch a tenth straight trophy for the Hoops will go down in Celtic folklore.
Initially he was expected to join the club on a permanent basis without much hassle. But his performances have allowed Southampton to ask for a large transfer fee, one that Celtic didn’t want to pay. But now it looks like there is a new twist in the the keeper’s transfer saga as he was pictured arriving at Lennoxtown by The Scottish Sun, as the Hoops look to resume practice ahead of a 10IAR challenge next season.
Now Forster’s loan deal with Celtic is already up and he was expected to be back with Southampton already. Other loan players like Mohamed Elyounoussi, Moritz Bauer and Daniel Arzani are believed to have left already. So the fact that the Englishman decided to show up at Lennoxtown is a huge hint that the club have managed to work out a deal with his parent club.
The Scottish league is already over, so this is not a matter of him wanting to finish the season. So do not be surprised if a deal for Fraser Forster is announced in the near future – whether it is a loan deal for another season or a permanent move.
