Turnbull, a recent massive Celtic target, is once again on the Hoops’ radar and there has not been a big update.

Celtic made it well known that they had interest in Motherwell’s David Turnbull by bringing him in and nearly signing him until a failed physical derailed his potential Hoops career. Now that he has gotten nearly a full season of rehab, he is right back on the Hoops’ radar.

The Hoops will be heavily revamping their squad as they head into the 10-in-a-row season according to manager Neil Lennon. Kristoffer Ajer could be joining Calvin Miller, Jonny Hayes and Jozo Simunovic on their exits. What about Maryan Shved? None of this even mentions the futures of Southampton loans Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi.

So, would Turnbull make a good addition to the Celtic squad? Well for starters he was highly coveted by Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell. After that, Turnbull is a respected midfielder who could make a difference with his veteran leadership. So it makes complete sense he is coveted by the Hoops.

Good news for Celtic fans is that there has been an updated in this saga. According to Football Insider there is reason for optimism:

"“David Turnbull is very keen for his dream move to Celtic to be resurrected this summer after fully recovering from injury.”"

Turnball would be a good fit with the Hoops. The midfielder is still young and could be molded to fit the “Celtic Way”. Yet he is old enough to have had some SPFL experience that gives him a veteran presence. He also represents a talent that can be continually developed and then turned into a nice profit later on down the line.

It makes complete sense why Lennon and Lawwell would be salivating to get their hands on a healthy version of the Motherwell midfielder.
