Even a former Rangers star has predicted that they won’t stop Celtic from 10IAR with their current transfer market strategy.

These days, everyone that walks in through the Ibrox door is hyped up as the one to stop Celtic. Last season it was Ryan Kent who was supposed to prevent 9IAR following a massive £7 million move to the Rangers. We all know how that story ends.

This time around it was the turn of Ianis Hagi, who recently made his loan move permanent after the club agreed to pay £3 million for his services to Genk. And while Hagi did have one good game during his loan stint at Ibrox, the Rangers fans have conveniently forgotten how his time in the team also coincided with their terrible run of form where they crashed out of the Premiership title race, Scottish Cup and will be sent packing from the Europa League as well when the competition resumes, barring a miracle.

And it looks like the Hagi move has not done the trick for Rangers fans this time around like it did with Kent. As a result, the club are now being linked with Charlton Athletic stirker Lyle Taylor.

Taylor’s contract runs out at the end of this season and he has already refused to return to training for the club despite the fact that they are fighting relegation as things stand. And while he has had a decent season in the Championship, scoring 11 times in 22 league games, nobody expects him to shake up the world except Rangers fans.

Even former Rangers man, Billy Dodds, did not seem to excited by the prospect of the transfer and admitted openly that he is the type of signing capable of stopping Celtic. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:

"“Is he going to be good enough to be a starter to stop Celtic? I’m not so sure, but he would be a good option to have as cover.”"

Sure, he might end up being a decent option to bring off the bench or for the odd cup tie but he is nowhere near the player required to stop Celtic’s trophy-winning machine. Truth be told, they do not seem to have the ability to make those kind of transfers anymore. And it is funny that even their former players are admitting to it.
