Transfer rumours are heating up as reports are starting to come in that both Celtic and Rangers will be battling for a midfielder’s signature.

Every transfer window there seems to be one player that both Celtic and their arch-rival Rangers are competing for the same player’s signature. However, there is now a rumour that could hold some weight, at least according to the player’s dad.

The player in question is midfielder Renato Tapia who is currently under contract with Dutch side Feyenoord. However, that contract is about to expire, and clubs will be vying for his services especially since he will not come with a transfer fee attached to him.

After the departure of Calvin Miller, Jozo Simunovic and Jonny Hayes, replacements will be need on the club. Tapia could represent a quality, veteran presence on the club as they push for the 10-in-a-row.

Even more interesting is the player’s father who had some enlightening words for the media regarding which clubs were looking at his son according to Glasgow Live:

"“There are a number of clubs interested in him, including both Celtic and Rangers from Scotland and Angers in France.“For the moment, he will see his contract out with Feyenoord and will continue to train there.“Nothing has been decided about his next move and we are waiting on more offers.”"

Tapia would be a good addition, because as mentioned before he would bring a veteran presence to the club. Experience in Europe has helped develop Tapia, and could provide the Hoops a boost in terms of how to better compete at the squad level in Europe.

Rangers seemingly have an endless supply of cash to pay new players wages, as well as transfer fees. It remains to be seen just how feasible their plan of spending frivolousness will work. In any case, we are ready for the transfer window and all of its drama to unfold.
