Ismailia Soro

Perhaps a bit of an unknown yet to Celtic fans, Soro signed a four and a half year deal costing around £2 million in January 2020. But he is has yet to make a first team appearance.

So what did the club get and can he make a breakthrough in the coming season? Many factors will dictate this, one might be whether Celtic retain or sell Olivier Ntcham. While not a direct replacement perhaps,  that could make some space on the competitive midfield positions for the hoops.

Soro is apparently a tough tackler but with good ball skills. The hard knocks and physical battles in Scottish football encouraged him to join Celtic. He likes it to be competitive on the pitch. His football role model is N’Golo Kante, if he gets even close he’ll have been a great signing.  Neil Lennon was expecting him to make an impact during the last season but again the suspension of matches may have impacted his appearance possibilities. With that sort of aspiration, role model and endorsement behind him, Soro will certainly be looking hard for a first team place this coming season. Celtic fans love a great midfielder and a tackler who can feed those around him. Let’s hope they get the chance to love Soro in the hoops.
