Celtic fans do not seem to be too impressed with the player who has been linked with a transfer to the club since the last few months.

Celtic have already started planning for next season when the club have the opportunity to win a historical tenth straight Scottish league title. And it is admirable that the club is already active in the transfer window although the global pandemic means that we are leaving in uncertain times with no timeline regarding when football will return in Scotland.

Two departures have already been announced with Eboue Kouassi moving to Belgian club KRC Genk and Calvin Miller also posting his farewell message to the fans earlier.

But it is not only the deadwood that the club will be looking to clear but also bring in some new faces. Despite winning nine straight league titles, there are still some holes in Neil Lennon’s side that need fixing.

One such area of requirement is left-back. Since the departure of Kieran Tierney to Arsenal, nobody has been able to nail down a spot in the team in the position. Both Boli Bolingoli and Greg Taylor were brought in last summer but neither of them have managed to be entirely convincing. Jonny Hayes also been used but he has been hit-and-miss as well.

As a result, it will not be surprising if Celtic look to bring in another left-back in the upcoming transfer window. And one name who has been continuously linked with the club is Hearts wonderkid Aaron Hickey.

The 17-year-old came through the Celtic youth ranks but left in search of a breakthrough into senior football. And the move has clearly paid off as he has already established himself as a starter at Hearts.

Celtic fans do not seem too impressed with the left-back though:

Hickey has years ahead of him and bringing him doesn’t mean that Lennon will directly slot him into the starting XI. Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli will probably get more chances to make their case and if Hickey is good enough, like Jeremie Frimpong, then he will be given the opportunity.

With Hearts relegated, he is not expected to command a huge transfer fee. And it is clearly a risk worth taking for the right price.
