Despite not being at Parkhead for a long time, it looks like the Celtic star is already planning for the future as admitted that he wants to eventually move to the Premier League.
There is no denying the fact that Celtic are a selling club at this point of time and many players who do well at the club look to eventually take the step up to more financially rewarding leagues in the future. That’s just the dark side of modern football.
When you think about the current crop of footballers at Parkhead, the name of Odsonne Edouard certainly crops up when it comes to a player who might eventually make the step up to a league like the Premier League or La Liga. After all, the Frenchman has torn apart the Scottish league this season and now Celtic have a battle on their hand to keep him at the club, at least for one more season, when they will be challenging for the historic ten-in-a-row.
One player who has not come even close to doing that at Celtic is Boli Bolingoli. The Belgian was brought in the summer to replace the outgoing Kieran Tierney but has failed to even establish himself as the first-choice left-back in Neil Lennon’s side. As a result, it is surprising to see him already talking about a future move to the Premier League instead of establishing himself at Parkhead first.
As reported by the Daily Record, Bolingoli said:
"“My ambition is keep playing at a constant level for an entire season. Initially at Celtic and my dream location would be the Premier League or the Bundesliga.”"
Of course, the Belgian does not say that he is unhappy at Celtic or that he wants to leave immediately. But it is never nice to hear a player talking about leaving, it shows that they see this opportunity as only a stepping stone. Especially in the case of players of Bolingoli who has shown nothing during his time at Parkhead to suggest any Premier League or Bundesliga side would even be remotely interested in him.
