Celtic are interested in former Premier League wonderkid
Celtic have set their sights on the former Premier League wonderkid as the striker could be worth a punt if Lennon can’t convince Odsonne Edouard to stay for another season and help the Hoops clinch 10 in a row.
The 26 year old striker who currently plays in the Belgian league for Zulte Waregem has become another target for Lennon as the Celtic manager aims to build a Champions league qualifying team for next season.
Berahino was once a West Brom star player and regulary chipped in with goals, his talents caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur who wanted to sign the young star, but the transfer fell through and Saido’s career took a nose-dive.
However, the striker was on great form in Belgium before the stoppage of football and has even become the captain of the Burundi national team.
Berahinho has 8 goals this season in 22 games and has 3 assists to his name as well, Lennon wouldn’t have to pay much to close this deal as Saido only has around one year left to run on his contract at Zulte Waregem.
With Lennon unsure if Edouard will be here next season, the Hoops boss needs to make plans right now and Berahino could prove to be a great signing with the help of the Celtic coaching staff.
That being said, Lennon still has Klimala and Bayo in the squad who have yet to see some decent game time.
Whatever happens, we just hope Celtic are well prepared for next season and for the Champions League qualifying rounds as UEFA are pondering only playing one round.
