A Premier League club are readying a £22 million bid for the Celtic star, who appears eager to leave Parkhead in the summer.

With nine-in-a-row looking more likely now than ever, it will not be surprising if Celtic already have one eye on their preparations for next season when they will have the opportunity to lift a historical ten-in-a-row. But they might have to do that without one of their first-team players in the form of Kristoffer Ajer.

The Norwegian has been a vital part of Neil Lennon’s side throughout this season. Before the season was forced into suspension, Ajer had made 49 appearances for the Hoops, forming the best central defensive partnership in the Premiership along with Christopher Jullien.

That partnership might not last for long though as those performances have managed to catch the eye of some of the biggest clubs around Europe. And it might be former Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, who is the most eager for a reunion with the defender.

As reported by the Leicestershire Live, the Premier League side are preparing a £22 million bid for the Celtic star. And the player looks equally eager for a move away as his representative Tore Pedersen has already publicly admitted that Ajer will not extend his contract and is looking for a summer exit.

To be honest, Celtic might have a hard time rejecting a bid in the range of what is being reported by the media. While Ajer looked like a standout performer at the start of the season, his form over the past several months has been underwhelming to say the least. And while that might be because he already has one foot out of Parkhead, there is no denying that such a fee in the post-pandemic market might be possibly be too good to turn down.
