In a slamming indictment of Scottish Football, Rangers-biased Kris Boyd blasts the way everyone is in it for themselves and how self interest is preventing progress.

Really Kris? Can’t say we’d noticed… much! Anyone in mind?

To be fair he could hardly come out and point at Rangers directly, and actually,  with everyone else doing so their hand in the current disarray is not going to get overlooked.

Instead, Kris adopts some of the Rangers tactics by aiming at other people instead. You might even wonder if there is a coordinated plan linking ex Rangers players ramblings together. So who is Kris blaming now? Everyone else of course!

But in particular Kris aims the barrel of an Ibroxesque VE Day commemorative big gun in the direction of the smaller clubs fighting for their very existence. He’s bemused by the number of people in the lower tiers of the leagues who can have a say in what’s happening in Scottish football. He wrote in his column in The Scottish Sun:

"“It’s the tail wagging the dog.“It’s the old prawn sandwich brigade.“Guys who are desperate to don the club tie for their wee day out with the top brass at Hampden.”"

Kris talks about them climbing the social ladder and being seen in the company of those in power. Quite a few will be very careful about which board members they are seen chatting to or standing beside next time they can get together in person. Assuming Stewart Robertson still has a place on the board by then. Or even by next week.

Kris, it’s probably much simpler and just part of that democracy thing your club are so keen on,  unless the votes don’t go your way. Maybe these just aren’t ‘The People’ you have in mind.

He did reflect on how German football was beginning to find its feet and touch a ball with them too. His recommendation is to be like German football and get everyone round the table and singing from the same hymn sheet.

Great idea Kris. Who is that sawing away at the table leagues at Hampden and issuing different sheets of paper to sing from then?

He did also  point out that in German football the clubs do help each other out. Kris muddles the facts slightly when he referred to Bayern Munich bailing out Borussia Dortmund. He’s confused a small, token, 2% of debt loan with a huge bailout, but that’s OK.  It’s well known ex Rangers players find loans confusing. This one wasn’t linked to salaries or a scheme to avoid tax, it was a proper loan to be repaid.

He may have a point though, it’s often hard to imagine a club helping others like that in Scottish football, though there was the example of Celtic deferring payments so the SPFL could help Motherwell and Partick Thistle. But that was kept private until quoted recently.  Although, any club needing a few bob could always trying knocking on the Ibrox door for help, it’s perhaps best to keep knocking in case they are hiding behind a sofa with the lights off!

Kris confirmed that he doubted Rangers will secure enough votes at the upcoming EGM to demand another second independent inquiry. That’ll be another sign of working together as one team while Rangers still propose this approach is it Kris?

What’s next? Let’s see Kris. Maybe when your ex club get past their pantomime end of season and start to work with everyone else it’ll start coming together. It’ll be painful for you seeing 9IAR declared, but 10IAR will hurt more. See you then!
