Neil Doncaster has just claimed that if Scottish football is going to hope to continue after this crisis, then it will need the governments help.

We all understand the economic impacts that the crisis caused by the novel coronavirus is having not just on Scotland, and the rest of the UK but the world. While many understand that it is quite possible that individual clubs are struggling, what about the SPFL as a whole?

Without revenue coming in for clubs, that means there is no revenue coming in for the SPFL, and when the coast is clear, and the league gets the go ahead to continue football how will it be expected to do that?

In England, the rugby leagues have already been given an infusion of cash to be able to stay afloat, and the same could be on the horizon for the SPFL. That would mean government help would be needed to help out. How would teams and individual fans feel about this?

Neil Doncaster gave some details about how it is working down South, and the warning about the future of the sport:

It remains to be seen whether that type of money, if it did come, would be a loan or an advance. In any case, we would welcome whatever it takes in order for football to return.

If and when that happens, morale across the world will be boosted, and all clubs along with their employees will once again be able to have financial stability. Hopefully that day comes very soon.
