Celtic fan, and global superstar Rod Stewart is used to the limelight. Now, he is calling out Rangers for their antics during the last few weeks.

The novel coronavirus has brought not just the suspension of football, but a drama unlike anyone could have ever foreseen in terms of how to conclude the season. Rangers are so reluctant to concede that they are willing to bring all of Scottish football down with it if they have to.

Rangers’ childish actions these last few weeks from calling out the SPFL for “bullying” and “corruption” to walking those same claims back, to claiming a whistle blower and never delivering are telling. The Ibrox club should trademark and patent how not to run public relations.

Now, Rod Stewart has gotten in on the talk, and claims that if he were in charge of Rangers, and they happened to be in Celtic’s position, he would concede the title. The fact that they haven’t yet is downright embarrassing. It once again proves that the Ibrox club is willing to put its ego, its 1.3% chance of winning the league, and its ideology above the common good for all of Scottish football and its employees.

Rod Stewart spoke with the Daily Record about his thoughts on the situation concerning Celtic, football’s suspension, and Rangers:

"“I’ve got a feeling all our boys will want to play because they want to get nine-in-a-row.“Rangers might not want it, but we want it. If the shoe was on the other foot and this was Rangers, and it was Celtic causing such a fuss I’d be embarrassed.“I’d want Celtic to give Rangers the league if they were 13 points in front with only eight games to go. I think this is such bad sportsmanship, it’s horrid.“I really mean that, I would. 13 points, better goal average, I think even Steven Gerrard would admit that, overall this season, Celtic were the better team.“We could have increased our lead those last eight games.”"

Of course it is easy to say you would do something, but if that scenario presented itself it would be another thing to follow through. That being said, it is usually not a difficult decision to do the right thing. Rangers need to back down, relinquish the silly crusade they are on and allow the league to finish. Then, they need to support that decision as it would go a long way for the second largest club in Scotland to throw its weight behind such a resolution. Talk about fixing a PR image.
