The Rangers are starting to slowly change their tune regarding their dossier of evidence against the SPFL’s apparent ‘bullying’ and ‘corruption’.
At times it is hard not to feel that there is no need for the incredible amount of drama that has surrounded Scottish football since the season was forced into suspension. And most of that has been surrounding the Rangers and their refusal to accept that the majority of the clubs in the country voted in favour of getting the season concluded so that the prize money could be distributed at the earlier.
That is not surprising considering the fact that most of them were struggling financially with no football on the horizon. So, those with no fear of being relegated naturally voted in favour of the motion.
For some reason, that seemed incredible to those at Ibrox and they claimed that there was foul play involved in the voting process. As a result, they accused the SPFL of ‘bullying’ and ‘corruption’, even claiming that they had evidence of their misdeeds.
The SPFL have downplayed all such accusations and even conducted an independent investigation into the controversial Dundee vote in order to prove their innocence. That was not enough for the Rangers although they have refused to provide the dossier of evidence against the SPFL that they apparently have, till now. But they are reportedly going to do so soon.
And it is interesting that they have started to change their tune slowly now. The earlier claims of “bullying and coercion” were earlier reported as ‘unfair play’ by The Scotsman. A rather tame term compared to the gravity of their earlier accusations.
And do not be surprised at all if the accusations grow milder with every passing day as the pressure increases on them to reveal the evidence in public.
