Scott Brown wants a former Celtic star to return to Parkhead because he believes he did not get enough opportunities to succeed at the club.

Whenever you bring in a new player to Celtic, you have to understand that there is a good chance that it might not work out for him. For some, the jersey is just too big as they say. And for many others, the time is just not right.

That appears to have been the case with Teemu Pukki. The Finnish striker had joined the club back in 2013 but never managed to quite find his feet at the club. And after an underwhelming season at Parkhead he was sent on a season-long loan to Brondby with them signing him on a permanent basis the following season.

It is pretty clear that Pukki was not quite ready when he joined Celtic but has since then gone on to enjoy a brilliant career, leaving many fans wondering what could’ve been if he had stayed on for a couple more seasons.

Since leaving Celtic in 2014, Pukki has scored 112 goals at the club level and 19 more on the international level. And after his impressive beginning to life in the Premier League earlier this season, many fans could not be blamed for wanting to bring him back to Parkhead for a second run.

One such man is Scott Brown. Speaking with The Pink Un, the Celtic captain said:

"“When I see him playing with Norwich, he’s obviously had that little bit more experience, he’s flying.“For a natural goalscorer, I would take Pukki because no matter what you always need one of them. We’ve got Griff [Leigh Griffiths] just now, and Odsonne [Edouard] who can produce that, but you can never have enough firepower.“He [Pukki] was quiet but a really nice man. Every morning he used to wear the same terrible adidas trainers. They were about eight year old… his barnet was shocking as well!“When he played for us he didn’t get that much game time, he didn’t get many opportunities. He didn’t probably score the amount of goals that we hoped he would score. He’s went away though and done phenomenal, fair play. He could have ended up falling down the leagues and doing whatever.“But he’s fought, and fitness was never an issue with him anyway because he was like a Duracell Bunny, he would just keep running.“I would definitely take Pukki.”"

Pukki has certainly shined since leaving the Hoops and could probably do a good job at the club if given a second chance, but at 30-years-old it is hard to see that coming to fruition. Still, nothing is a given in football. And the Finnish international might just return to Scottish shores in the future to take care of some unfinished business at Parkhead.
