Neil Doncaster seems to have had enough Rangers’ calls to get him suspended and decided to hit back at the Ibrox club.

In a two part open broadside at Rangers continuing protestations the SPFL have made their stance clear. Put or shut up is the clear message from the points Neil Doncaster and SPFL Chairman Murdoch McLennan have made today.

Neil Doncaster is the SPFL chief executive and he hit back today about the allegations made by Rangers and the missing evidence and the EGM request. He is obviously annoyed and perplexed at recent allegations made by Rangers particularly where they are pointed at him and SPFL legal adviser Rod MacKenzie. They are bemused at the lack of any detail of what they relate to.

As reported by Sky Sports, Neil Doncaster stated:

"“It’s just not acceptable for these vague assertions to be made without anything being brought forward”“We’ve got demands for suspensions of myself and another trusted employee of the SPFL without any clarity on what it is we are supposed to have done wrong. I just don’t find that acceptable at all”"

Neil went on to mention the EGM request, now scheduled for 12 May, after the appropriate notice period.

"“If our 42 member clubs want our time and money spent in that way, it’s their democratic right. 8 out our 9 board members feel it’s wholly inappropriate."

See if you can guess which club the 9th board member represents!

In a flurry of statements Rangers have referred to evidence they have, but it’s about as visible as cups from the last few years in their trophy room. Neil went on to make the point that this has been running for a while now and that Rangers have a duty to provide the details.

In the past Rangers have often called for clarity when they have felt it’s needed, they’ve asked for people to be named, procedures to be public, evidence to be shared. At this point it’s really hard to understand what their case is, nor why they won’t share it.

Which is why the call for put up or shut up to the Ibrox club’s board is absolutely on the money. It might be the only thing at Rangers that is on the money!
