Former Celtic wonderkid Islam Feruz, who at one point was one of the brightest young stars in the system, has decided to quit football.

Islam Feruz was a great story of a young kid who was able to take his talent and bring himself out of a less than ideal situation with it. At 5-years old, Islam Feruz moved from Somalia to Scotland, and shortly after signed with Celtic’s youth program at 10-years old.

Feruz displayed all the qualities that the Hoops developmental system is well-known for procuring. There were high hopes for the youngster to one day see first team action, or be used as a transfer chip to help better the club. Either way, his talent was going to earn himself a spot in some lineup, while also helping out Celtic.

Instead, he left Celtic and joined English Premier League side Chelsea. His talent would never outshine his bad attitude, and as such found himself without a club. Apparently disheartened by his slip ups, his has now decided to quit football and start his own clothing line.

According to SunSport, the clothing line has an interesting twist:

"Islam Feruz, 24, revealed his line of caps with the logo ‘Tajirii’ — meaning “rich” in Swahili — and said it is “coming soon”."

I guess he thinks he will get rich starting this line, because he no longer has football to try and help him do it. This is just another example of a young player who’s ego and attitude prevented his talent and ability to make a difference on a first team with a club. This should be another great teaching moment for any youngster trying to break into the world of football of how not to act.
