Celtic look set to get their revenge on Brendan Rodgers for leaving them to hang out to dry in the middle of the season in order to join Leicester City.

Brendan Rodgers’ time at Parkhead was filled with success as the club enjoyed a couple of brilliant seasons under the Northern Irishman. The manner in which he left them in the middle of the season in order to take over the reigns at Leicester City must have left a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of the Hoops fans. Especially since he claimed to be a Celtic fan growing up and wanted to be viewed as one of them.

Thus, his departure can very easily be viewed as a betrayal. And a large portion of the fanbase can’t be blamed for looking for revenge against the former Celtic boss. Fortunately, that might arise in the very near future.

As reported by Leicestershire Live, the Premier League side are hoping to sign Celtic’s Norwegian defender Kristoffer Ajer in the summer. On top of that the player’s agent has already declared that he will be leaving. The transfer fee being touted is about £25 million. And lets just say that for kind of money, they can happily take him.

Ajer starting the current campaign in briliant form and looked like the standout player at the club in the early portions of the season. That seems like a lifetime ago though as his form has fallen off a cliff since then. At times, he has even appeared to be a liability. And even his biggest supporter would agree that the Hoops should not think twice about shipping him off if Leicester City put a £25 million offer on the table.

In many ways, that will be Celtic’s revenge on Rodgers. It appears that the manager has not seen Ajer play for quite some time now. So let’s not go about telling him about it.
