It looks like Celtic are already stepping up their pursuit for future transfer targets by putting in a bid for the highly-rated French youngster.

Celtic has submitted a bid for Brandon Soppy, the highly-rated right-back at Rennes. There is stiff competition in the way of Celtic, as Nice and RB Leipzig have also expressed interest in Soppy ahead of the summer transfer window.

Although football seems to be in jeopardy due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, the signing of fresh talent and the preparations for the return of the sport are still ongoing. Celtic has began to hire new behind the scenes staff members to hunt for fresh talent. The club has success with the signing of young talent, Jeremie Frimpong from Manchester City last summer the club wants to continue the search for youngsters to join the team.

The club has offered around €1.5 million plus bonuses for Soppy, says a journalist at Eurosport France, Manu Lonjon:

He has not played in a senior game, yet, but scouts speak highly of the young talent. He has put on strong performances during his youth career in the UEFA Youth League. This term has seen him take on, and beat, youth teams FK Brodarac, Maccabi Petah Tikva and Club Brugge.

€1.5 million is a decent chunk of money to invest in someone as young as Soppy. Remember, they only paid £350,000 for Jeremie Frimpong. And we all know how that deal turned out for the Hoops. One can only hope that it will be a similar case if they do manage to sign Soppy.

Celtic has had great success in the past with recruiting young French players, particularly Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard, and they look to continue the trend.

Will Brandon Soppy continue the legacy of young French success with The Hoops?
