An FC Copenhagen star has been banned by UEFA for his ridiculous actions during an Europa League match at Celtic Park in February of this year.

FC Copenhagen’s Michael Santos has been banned for three matches by UEFA after being found guilty of “assaulting” a policeman during the club’s Europa League match against Celtic in February of 2020.

The incident occurred in the second leg after Santos celebrated Pep Biel’s 85′ goal pushing Copenhagen to a 3-1 victory over the Scottish side.

The policeman attempted to stop Santos from getting too close to the FC Copenhagen crowd that had traveled to see their team play at Celtic park. Santos “barged into” the officer.  A Copenhagen steward was also tackled by police during the fracas.

UEFA released a statement regarding the decision to ban Santos for his antics while in Glasgow:

"“The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided: To suspend the FC Copenhagen player, Michael Santos, for a total of three Uefa club competition matches (including any matches previously and automatically served by the player to date) for which he would be otherwise eligible, for assaulting another person present at the match.”"

FC Copenhagen have spoken out against their players’ action and are taking a cooperative stance and are “waiting to see if Scottish Police pursue the case and will cooperate if they want more information from the club”.

Of course, all action has halted due to the spread of the novel coronavirus and the subsequent suspension of all football leagues under UEFA’s jurisdiction. We will just have to wait and see when the sport picks up again.
