Celtic legend and current pundit Chris Sutton reacts to Dundee FC’s actions regarding a resolution that would bring a conclusion to the season.

The entire resolution proposed by the Scottish Premiership League that would bring a way forward to the conclusion of the season was at a standstill. The cause for the standstill lied with one club: Dundee FC.

The club was set for a promotion fight to the Premiership, but with the suspension of the league due to the novel coronavirus that promotion is in jeopardy. Therefore, it makes some sense why Dundee dragged their feet on the issue. However, during times like these one would think a club would put the collective good of the whole above themselves.

Dundee were supposedly about to make a surprising U-turn on their position regarding the resolution, but all the did was post a statement on the situation. Sutton trolled Dundee on Twitter about the action.

That statement effectively said nothing.

Sutton let his thoughts on Dundee be known in his Daily Record column regarding their inactions:

"“It is astonishing there is still no clarity on this SPFL vote yet with the nation now hanging on a decision from one club."

Clubs, people, officials, businesses, etc will be judged on their actions during this crisis for years to come. True colors, are unfolding before our eyes, and reputations will be forever forged. Dundee appeared to have put the financial futures of not just clubs, but those clubs’ employees at risk because they risk not getting 100% of what they want out of the resolution.

That is the deal. No one gets exactly what they want, but every club would get what they need to survive. It’s truly simple.

Until the miracle happened and Dundee FC voted yes to the resolution. Here is Chris Sutton’s reaction:

And it is commendable that they decided to put the collective good of Scottish football first. Bravo.
