Jamie Carragher makes Celtic claim about when Steven Gerrard ultimately ends up leaving his role as manager of Rangers.

Carragher has admitted in the past to prefer Celtic over their Glasgow rivals but that seems to have changed after Steven Gerrard was handed the reigns at Ibrox in 2018. That is probably understandable considering the fact that the duo spent 15 solid seasons together at Anfield playing for Liverpool. And his loyalty towards his friend appears to outweigh his loyalty towards the Hoops.

That will change again though when Steven Gerrard eventually ends up leaving his job as Rangers manager. Carragher will then revert back to supporting Celtic, not that we need it.

Now Carragher might not have to wait too long to do so as Gerrard was on the verge of getting sacked before the season had to be suspended. The Ibrox side have invested a huge amount of money since the Liverpool legend’s arrival but they have nothing to show for it on the pitch. And if the Rangers continue in the same vein whenever football eventually returns, he can start packing his bags and head back to Merseyside.

As reported by HITC, during an Instagram Q&A, Carragher was asked whether he preferred Celtic or Rangers:

"“Right now it’s Rangers because of Steven Gerrard but as soon as Steven leaves it’ll be Celtic.”"

As things stand, Rangers stand 13 points behind Celtic in the Premiership table. They also lost out to the Hoops in the Scottish League Cup final earlier in the season and are out of the Scottish Cup as well. And having lost 3-1 at home to Bayer Leverkusen, it should not be too long before they are out of Europe as well.

Let us also mention here that we will not be too bothered if Mr. Carragher continues supporting the Rangers.
