With finances front and center during the novel coronavirus crises, the Scottish Premiership League (SPFL) has announced a record-breaking prize pool.

The novel coronavirus has put the football world on halt throughout the world. Massive clubs across the globe are feeling the brunt of a lack of revenue flowing into the club. That effect is being felt even more by small clubs in which the SPFL is mainly comprised of.

As such, the news of a record breaking pot of prize money has to hand out to clubs is big and worthwhile news. However, prize money cannot be handed out until a resolution can come that will help see the conclusion of the season.

Whether games will be played out, or current places will be considered final, money will liekly not be issued until that comes to fruition. One club in particular who plays in Ibrox has been particularly vocal about finances. Of course, they have little in the way of an actual solution that is fair and equitable for the entire league, not just themselves.

The SPFL announced the prize pool, and like we said previously, it is record-breaking. Take a look at the numbers for yourself:

"Ladbrokes Premiership1st – 13.40% – £3,350,0002nd – 9.60% – £2,400,0003rd – 8.25% – £2,062,5004th – 7.25% – £1,812,5005th – 6.75% – £1,687,5006th – 6.25% – £1,562,5007th – 5.75% – £1,437,5008th – 5.50% – £1,375,0009th – 5.25% – £1,312,50010th -5.00% – £1,250,00011th – 4.75% – £1,187,50012th – 4.50% – £1,125,000"

This type of money would go far in helping clubs make ends meet. Multiple clubs have already cut back salaries and furloughed workers. These payment would help keep the lights on for those clubs. Hopefully a resolution can be worked out so clubs can get these lifelines.
