The Rangers board have been called out by Bill Leckie for being terrified of their own supporters and not taking the right decision as a result of it.

Rangers have been caught between a rock and a hard place over the past month or so. One on hand, there terrible financial condition means that they could do with every last penny right now in order to keep the Ibrox club afloat in these testing times. But that would mean that the season would have be declared complete and Celtic crowned champions.

Obviously that is something that the Rangers supporters do not want to see at any cost. And although they failed to do anything to prevent the Hoops on their march to nine-in-a-row, they have thrown the kitchen sink at it over the past month with all football remaining suspended.

Their brilliant idea is that the SPFL should pay off the prize money to all the clubs yet the season must be scratched off as well. How does that make any sense?

In fact, the league finishing now would probably help the Rangers. Since their return from the winter break, they had showcased terrible form which saw them fall 13 points behind Celtic in the Premiership table. And that gap was only expected to increase if the season had gone on as planned.

And while the Ibrox side have maintained the stance that they want all 38 games to be played, we all know that what they really want is for the season to be scrapped.

In his column in The Scottish Sun, Bill Leckie called out their board’s mismanagement:

"How can Robertson be a cog in the machinery one minute then throw a spanner in it the next? Surely he can’t be with the SPFL and also against them.As for his chairman, Douglas Park, how can he then call for Doncaster to be suspended as chief executive when his own MD is making the job impossible? For me, the answer’s simple. Rangers are so terrified of upsetting their own supporters that their thought process is paralysed. They’re punching themselves in the face."

Leckie seems to have hit the nail on the head here. Otherwise, it makes no sense for the Rangers to try and stop the season from being declared complete, preventing the SPFL from paying out the prize money to clubs that need the money now more than ever before.
