Fond memories of two kings of the east brought a tear to many a Celtic fans eye on Good Friday.
It started with BBC Scotland replaying Henrik Larsson’s last game in May 2004 for Celtic at Parkhead on Friday evening.
Many fans took to live tweeting and commenting on social media as if the game was being played live. It helped fill the football gap nicely for a short while.
The game ended with a 2-1 home win against Dundee United, and guess who got the Celtic goals? The King of Kings of course, a Henrik Larsson double secured the points but mostly ensured there’d be tears afterwards. He tried to hold them back, we all did likewise at the time, and anyone watching last nights replay will have struggled again at the emotional scenes. We weren’t alone as Chris Sutton said yesterday..
We all cried when Henrik left😢

Henrik truly was a world class player and a legend with his title of King of Kings needing no debate. If anyone missed the replay and wants to see a couple of cracking Henrik goals, You Tube has some highlights too.
Good Friday though brought a few more memories of a past king with the news breaking that Sir Kenny Dalglish had been admitted to hospital for treatment of an infection needing intravenous antibiotics. He was tested positively for COVID-19 despite not displaying any symptoms. He might be a Sir now but he’s been King Kenny for years now and warmly regarded as a player at Celtic and of course for his time at Liverpool.
The Celtic family will be sad to hear of the test outcome and hospital stay, but heartened by the positive messages and outlook. His family statement praised the NHS staff, as we all do, and asked for privacy for them to do their jobs and for the family too at this time. Kenny has now been released from hospital which is great news. Our best wishes go to them all.
Fond memories all round of two fantastic players who definitely graced the famous hoops shirts.
