Celtic could land £9-million AS Monaco defender on loan

Celtic FC reportedly wants to sign an AS Monaco defender who the club reportedly pursued during last summer’s transfer window.
Finally some news that does not surround the postponement or suspension of football due to the novel coronavirus. Now, Celtic are reportedly interested in bring in an AS Monaco defender on loan this summer. This is after Neil Lennon was reportedly interested in the player last summer.
According to reports, AS Monaco is set to loan out the £9 million centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic, and the Hoops could be a perfect landing spot. As previously mentioned, Celtic had interest in Strahinja Pavlovic last summer, so the interest is already there.
However, there have been recent reports that Kristoffer Ajer, one of the Hoops’ starting centre-backs, will not be returning next season. This has all come from Kristoffer Ajer’s agent, and as such, the Hoops will need another first team quality starter.
This news also comes on the heels of a report that the Hoops are planning a rehaul, or more likely a retool, this offseason. If any of the reports are true, then the exit of Kristoffer Ajer, and the possibility of a player with the caliber of Strahinja Pavlovic makes perfect sense.
Still, the conclusion of the season will need to occur before any transactions or moves will be able to be made. Other questions, such as loan periods for players like Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi must also be answered, and these may take precedence over any other possible loan moves.
