As expected, Celtic fans wasted no time in ruthlessly trolling Steven Gerrard after the Rangers boss’ recent social media fail.

The football season was forced into suspension due to the global outbreak of the coronavirus. At that point, Celtic had a 13-point lead over the Rangers in the Premiership table. But with the impact of the virus increasing with every passing day, the future remains bleak not just for football but for society as well. And we will be hoping that a cure for this disease is found as soon as possible.

With social distancing being recommended as the only way to stop further spreading of the disease. This has resulted in lockdowns all over the globe and has left people with nothing to do but stay indoors. And a group off people who would be feeling particularly lonely at this point of time are footballers, having spent every week playing in front of thousands of people.

This has led to spending more and more time connecting with their fans on social media. The toilet paper challenge made the rounds earlier this weeks with even greats like Lionel Messi and Xavi taking turns at doing keepie uppies with a roll of toilet paper and sharing it on their Instagram story.

And while Rangers manager Steven Gerrard did not take part in that challenge, he did decide to share his music, books, movie and TV series recommendations to his 8.7 million followers on Instagram. And Celtic fans did not let the opportunity to troll him for his undeniably boring choices.

While there is nothing wrong with Gerrard’s lists, it is an absolutely bland set of choices. Whoever has heard of underground artists like The Beatles, Oasis or Ed Sheeran, right?

Admittedly, it would not get any attention if the same list was posted by a little known footballer. But the matter of the fact is that Celtic fans love to take the mickey out of the Rangers manager, and there was no way that they would this opportunity slide.
