A Southampton journalist has given an update on Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi’s status as the pair are on loan to Celtic while the season is suspended.

Celtic currently has two Southampton players rostered via loan from the English Premier League side. Both Forster and Elyounoussi have played an instrumental part in helping Celtic become the club atop the Scottish Premiership League table by a whipping 13 points.

While Celtic would love to keep both players, it seems more likely that Fraser Forster would be the one to stay with the club after the season. However, one cannot put the wagon before the horse, as this season has not finished yet, and there appears to be no finish line in sight.

With the season looking like it will extend beyond the loan period set forth for both Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi, what will happen to the pair if the season is extended?

Well, Alex Crook who is journalist covering Southampton has shed a little bit of light on the subject during these uncertain times. Speaking with talkSport and transcribed by The Daily Record, Alex Crook helps set the record straight:

"“Neil Lennon has come out and said we really need them to stay to the end of the season whenever that may be.“Because they are both under contract Southampton are pretty relaxed about that.“If they have to extend their loans I think they will so that’s good news for Celtic.”"

It sounds as if Southampton is going to be amenable towards Celtic, especially with all of the chaos and unknown going on in the football world. Furthermore, a permanent move cannot be tossed out or disregarded for wither player, especially, as previously mentioned, for Fraser Forster.

The Hoops are flush with talented wingers, but have little in the ways of a top end goalkeeper, especially one that is such a fan favourite as Fraser Forster.
