Celtic star won’t renew contract, will leave in the summer

One Celtic star is set to not renew his contract per his agent, and will likely leave the club come the summer transfer window period.

Celtic has seen its fair share of superstar exits, and this summer transfer window may be no different. While the Hoops are in constant contract talks with Odsonne Edouard in an attempt to keep him around, there is another star who will be seeing his exit.

Centre-back Kristoffer Ajer will be on his way out the door as his agent has publicly said Ajer will not be pursuing a contract renewal or extension with Celtic. Despite having two years left on his deal, he will see his exit from the Scottish champions this summer.

Kristoffer Ajer has been a mainstay in the first team the last few years, and has become a fan favourite. Despite a down period during the second half of this season, Ajer has been a major part in helping to solidify the backline for the Hoops.

All of this information is coming straight from his agent’s mouth. According to The Scotsman here is what Tore Pedersen had to say:

"“”He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer.“There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.“There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it. There is generally great interest in Kristoffer.”"

The Hoops have made some fantastic defensive acquisitions lately, and will most likely do so again this summer. With Ajer’s exit, the Scottish champions will need to bring in veteran or proven talent to help mitigate the loss of the defensive star.
