Celtic is now implementing new procedures due to the novel coronavirus. Here is everything you need to know going forward.

Celtic will soon be affected by new implementations of procedures that are designed to quell the spread of the novel coronavirus. These new implementations have come straight down from UEFA and will change the outlook of the football environment for the time being.

On the 3rd of March, UEFA bosses were confident that no extra measures were needed to prevent the spread of coronavirus despite the warning of other governing bodies. Steve Clarke, Scotland boss, steered clear of the Nations League draw in Amsterdam, as he deemed it an “unnecessary risk.”

We’ve seen how the virus has affected the players etiquette on game day, with the players going so far as to not shake each others hands. Now it seems, with Italy having “fan bans” and playing indoors, that the virus is much more serious than they expected.

Celtic FC have given their official statement to prevent the coronavirus spreading among the staff members and players at the club.

From the official Celtic FC website:

“In response to health advice being given and in line with a number of other clubs globally, Celtic will be asking players to limit their appearances at events out with training and playing duties, and to temporarily avoid interactions such as providing photographs/selfies or autographs.”

This comes on the heels of other major sporting associations and leagues such as the NBA and MLB closing off locker rooms to the media. Of course this could change as the effects of the virus in the UK and Scotland become more apparent.

Of course, many clubs have been hosting closed games that just involve the players or have cancelled games altogether. This comes just after the announcement that season tickets have been made available, will this affect ticket sales or will the coronavirus be a short outbreak?

It remains to be seen how the coronavirus will affect games around the world in the coming months but for now matches are still open to the public and the scheduled clash with Rangers will still go ahead.

We might be showing our support for Celtic remotely as the club will adopt extra measures to protect the First Team.

There is no telling how the virus will affect the match schedules in the coming months but The Celtic Bhoys will keep you updated on the ongoing events as they unfold.
