Rangers have crumbled away these last few weeks domestically. Now, a Rangers defender makes a brutally honest admission about Celtic.

Celtic fans are enjoying their successes since the New Year has begun. A new formation rolled out by Neil Lennon has helped the team soar to new heights after a lackluster end to the first half. Yes, recently there have been some ups and downs regarding the club’s performances, but it cannot be considered anywhere near what Rangers have accomplished.

Since returning from the winter break, Rangers have dropped 13 points domestically, and many of those points have come against clubs that should have been beaten. Bottom of the table Hearts have gotten the best of Steven Gerrard‘s side twice now, and the latest botch up has seen Rangers’ exit from the Scottish Cup.

Just yesterday, Rangers dropped more points to Hamilton and the title race seems all but over for the crumbling club. Even Steven Gerrard’s job is now in jeopardy, and their own fans are calling for his job.

But now, Rangers defender Borna Barisic even seems resigned to the fact Celtic cannot be caught. Speaking to Sportske Jutarnji, Borna Barisic made a brutally honest admission:

"“Celtic took maximum points so they’re now running away from us with 12 points but we have a game in hand and still have to play them (twice). We haven’t given up on it yet, but it will be difficult.”"

With that kind of admission, it makes it hard to see how a club could get back up and try to fight for the domestic crown. At least not one with Steven Gerrard at the wheel, and one that has defenders and even their captain making some pretty damning comments.

As long as Celtic can figure out some of the woes that have been haunting them these last few games, then nine-in-a-row seems all but assured.
