Celtic are set to lose one of their on loan stars in the summer after he has failed to make much of an impact at the club since moving to Parkhead.

Loan systems are pretty hit-and-miss. That is the risk that they come with. Most often when you take unproven players solely on the basis of their potential, there are bound to be a few who cannot fulfill the promise that they showed at the youth levels. Unfortunately for Daniel Arzani though, it was more of a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Australian came to Celtic on a two-year long loan deal with huge hype surrounding him after appearing in all three of his country’s World Cup games in Russia. But things went wrong right off the bat for the Manchester City youngster at Parkhead.

Arzani tore his ACL in his first-team debut for the Hoops against Motherwell. And it took him almost a year in order to action again. And about 15 months just to get another first-team appearance – a 5 minute cameo in the cup against Partick Thistle. And unfortunately those have been his only minutes for the senior side this season.

Australian legend, Mark Schwarzer, even ended up questioning is compatriot’s decision to join the Scottish champions:

"“It took him a while to even get that opportunity to start in a Celtic side and when he signed for them, I said straight away, ‘I think it’s the wrong move for him.“He needs game time. He needs to play in a first-team. He needs to play in a team that plays a style of football that suits him best.“He’s a very gifted technical player, a player that loves to get the ball at his feet and run at the opposition, but as a ball-playing player, he needs other intelligent players around him.”"

And now with his contract set to run out at the end of the season, it is expected that he will not be extend his stay at Parkhead further. This is very unfortunate considering the fact that the Celtic fans never really got a chance to get a real look at the Australian.
