Jackie McNamara has finally provided a health update after the Celtic legend was forced to undergo emergency surgery due to a brain bleed.

Nearly three weeks ago, Jackie McNamara had collapsed in front of his house after taking his dog on a walk. The 46-year-old had suffered a bleeding in the brain and had to be rushed to undergo emergency surgery. He was then kept in an induced coma at the Hull Royal Infirmary’s intensive care unit.

His daughter had used his Twitter to give his fans an update on the situation, thanking them for all their well wishes and assuring them that he was getting the best care possible. Following the surgery, Jackie’s condition was described as “critical but stable”.

Since then, we have not heard much regarding McNamara’s situation. But now there is some great news for Celtic fans as Jackie McNamara himself has posted a message on his social media accounts to give his fans a positive update regarding his health and thank them for their support during the difficult times.

The former Celtic defender wrote:

"“I have been overwhelmed by the messages of support for me and my family, from the football community and supporters, during what has been an extremely worrying and emotional time.“I would like to personally thank the Paramedics, York Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary who have been phenomenal, if it wasn’t for these services I wouldn’t be here today.“It will be a slow and steady process but I’m on the road to recovery. I am back home with my family and feel very grateful.“Thanks again, Jackie.”"

During a highly decorated 10-year Celtic career, making 358 appearances, winning 9 trophies along with three Player of the Year titles (PFA Scotland Player of the Year in 1996, PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year in 1998 and SFWA Footballer of the Year in 2004) and even captained the Hoops.
