Brendan Rodgers probably won’t be too happy with Barry Ferguson’s recent claim about Neil Lennon’s current Celtic side.

It has been exactly one year since Brendan Rodgers left Celtic to hand out in the dry as he moved to Leicester City in the middle of the season, with no regard for how such a decision could affect the Hoops’ season. Not something that you would expect from a man who claimed to be a Celtic fan at every opportunity he got during his time at the club.

Back then it was seen as a catastrophe, with genuine fears that it would derail the Glasgow giants run as the dominant side in Scotland. As it turns out, those fears were wildly premature as Neil Lennon has done an outstanding job since coming in.

He managed to steady the ship after coming in, completing the Treble Treble. And he has continued improving a team that was seen as perfect by many during Rodgers’ time at the club. The club is scoring more, playing great football and although they are not undefeated like a few seasons ago, it is safe to say that the competition has improved since then.

One aspect that Celtic have improved exponentially under Lennon is their European form. While Rodgers found it hard to make any significant progress in the continental competition, his successor has done brilliantly after the early blow of being knocked out of the Champions League qualification phase at the hands of CFR Cluj.

And it looks like he has a surprise admirer in the form of Rangers legend, Barry Ferguson. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:

"“Celtic are a better team under Neil Lennon than they were with Brendan Rodgers.”“I think they are more attack-minded and the thing I like about them is, after the Old Firm game on the 29th, they went away and worked on a system that I think suits them as well.”“For me, Celtic are definitely a better team under Neil Lennon.”"

Lennon has often not been given been credit for the work he has done at the club. If Rodgers was doing the same right now, they would probably be linking him with FC Barcelona!
