Chris Sutton wasted no time in rubbing salt into Rangers fans’ wounds after their 2-2 draw vs St Johnstone gave Celtic a 12-point lead at the top of the table.

Is there a more entertaining man on Twitter than former Celtic striker Chris Sutton when Rangers slip up? Not that we know of but if you do, feel free to tell us about him.

One thing that is very refreshing about the Scottish football media is how the pundits have given up trying to be neutral. Their support for their former clubs is an open secret. And there is no bigger supporter of the Hoops than Chris Sutton.

Sutton spent six very successful seasons at Parkhead, scoring 86 goals and winning 8 trophies while forming a memorable duo with Henrik Larsson. And now he continues to fly the Celtic flag high as a pundit.

The big man is very, very entertaining on Twitter, especially when Rangers drop points. Fortunately, that has been happening quite often in recent months and as we now very well know by now, Sutton’s gloves are always off.

Steven Gerrard’s side slipped up once again today, drawing 2-2 away at St Johnstone. The result means that they have dropped 10 of their last 24 points and it has left them 12 points behind Celtic, although Neil Lennon’s side have played one game more than their rivals.

Following the result, Sutton tweeted this out:

The tongue in cheek humour is hard to miss. And Rangers fans did not take too kindly to it. One of them even decided to reply to Sutton while Celtic were trailing against Kilmarnock:

That was not for long though and Celtic fans were quick to let the man know that he had slipped up, just like his team:

Social media has given a different dimension to football. While nothing matches the game on the pitch, the entertainment off it is just as good at times.
