5 Hits & Flops from Celtic’s 1-1 draw away at FC Copenhagen
FLOP: Mohamed Elyounoussi
Was brought in by Neil Lennon on the hour mark in order to change the game after Celtic had been dominated in the second half till then. But the Norwegian’s introduction failed to bring any change to the course of the game as FC Copenhagen’s dominance continued.
Elyounoussi has been out of the team for the past several months, struggling to recover from an injury he picked up against Hibernian in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup. This was his opportunity to get back in Neil Lennon’s first-team plans with an impressive display. Unfortunately, that was not the case with the Norwegian proving ineffective.
FLOP: Jeremie Frimpong
It is hard to put the youngster in the ‘flop’ column. This was his return from the injury that he picked up against Kilmarnock and he was thrown into the cauldron immediately with a start against the Danish champions in the knockout phase of the Europa League. In fact this was his first appearance in a game on the European stage.
But we can judge him on his performance on the night alone and the reality is that he was not up to par. Perhaps it was a case too much too soon or just the fact that he was coming back from injury. Was subbed off late in the game in order to bring in some stability at the back so that the Hoops could hold on to the draw.
