FC Copenhagen star Pierre Bengtsson has sent a warning to Neil Lennon and his Celtic squad ahead of Thursday clash taking place in Denmark.

Celtic are set to take on FC Copenhagen in Denmark on Thursday in the Europa League Round of 32. Despite losing one of their best players, FC Copenhagen still poses a significant threat, and may be the most challenging opponent the Hoops have faced in the New Year.

The Hoops will be looking to secure the victory in a hostile away environment, or score some away goals at the very least. Neil Lennon will presumably field his best squad, which should be a 4-2-3-1 formation with Leigh Griffiths reportedly unfit for the match.

While Celtic Park is world-renowned for being one of the toughest places to play for opposing teams, FC Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium doesn’t quite hold the same status or reputation.

However, FC Copenhagen star Pierre Bengtsson sent a warning to the Celtic squad via The Herald about the atmosphere awaiting them in Denmark:

"“We know what Celtic Park will be like, but we have sold out the Parken Stadium for the first leg too and don’t forget that our fans can make a lot of noise too and create an intimidating atmosphere. We want to give our fans a night to remember.“Our fans have big expectations when we play at home in a European game because we have a strong and proud history of big results at the Parken in Europe against big teams. Certainly, we are strong at home and our fans will expect us to put on a big performance against Celtic.”"

As we have said all along, Celtic will be facing their toughest challenge since taking on Rangers in late December. While Aberdeen proved a tough opponent in bad weather, facing FC Copenhagen, a team that made it to the Knockout Stage of the Europa Leagues will prove a tough test.

The Hoops will need to play their best brand of football in order to secure away goals during this portion of the tie. There is little doubt in our mind that the squad Neil Lennon fields will be more than capable of taking down FC Copenhagen in their own territory.
