According to Football Insider 247, Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City is set to swoop in and snag a Celtic youngster who has yet to sign a pro deal.
Brendan Rodgers has left a poor taste in not just Celtic fans mouths, but apparently the front office’s as well. While there are always reports that the ex-Hoops manager is always coveting some Celtic player, they rarely hold water. Let’s be honest, it’s easy to spread those rumours when we all know how well he knows the players.
But now, there is a lesser known youngster that is currently with the youth development squad. Tsoanelo Letsosa is the player and question, and the 16-year old midfielder has been impressive within the Hoops’ developmental program. Furthermore, he has shown tremendous promise while playing for Scotland’s 16-U squad. Now he has caught the eye of English Premier League clubs.
Celtic is well-known for developing premium, youth prospects, and either turning them loose for the first squad, or selling them to huge clubs for incredible profit. Brendan Rodgers knows this, and sees the potential.
According to Football Insider, Leicester City source spoke with them, and the Hoops front office is not happy:
"“A Leicester source has told Football Insider the club have a strong interest in Letsosa and have been keeping close tabs on him after his starring role in the Victory Shield in November.“This has not gone down well among the Celtic hierarchy, whose relationship with Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers was severely damaged by the manner of his exit last February.”"
If this source is correct, then it may behoove to try to lock down Tsoanelo Letsosa to a long-term deal that will ensure he sees his development out with Celtic, with a strong chance to contribute to the first squad in the near future.
In any case, it would be nearly unforgivable if Brendan Rodgers was able to swoop in and steal one of the Hoops best youth prospects.
