Chris Sutton believes that Rangers are starting to panic after Celtic have taken a commanding 10-point lead in the race for the Premiership title.

Following their dominant win over Celtic at Parkhead in late December, many people were starting to consider the Rangers the favourites for the Premiership title. After all they had played the Hoops off the park in two straight games within the span of a month.

It appeared that Steven Gerrard’s side had the clear head-to-head advantage over their Glasgow rivals and with how close the title race was between the two, that was expected to prove the deciding factor come the end of the season. But as it turns out, this was another false dawn for a club whose supporters are happy to hold on to anything that they can get their hands on to.

The fact that Celtic still hold the head-to-head advantage over the Rangers this season was conveniently forgotten by the media and a 2-1 victory was made out to be a 5-0 thumping by the Rangers fans.

A little over a month, and they are are back down to Earth though. Since returning from the winter break, the club has dropped 8 points in the league, handing a 10-point lead to Celtic although they do have a game in hand.

And Chris Sutton believes that panic is quickly setting in at Ibrox. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the former Celtic striker said:

"“I think there’s a great deal of panic set in.“I think they had won every away game up until Hearts, it’s absolutely set in.“And the manner of the loss the other night… the truth is Kilmarnock were better than Rangers in the second-half.”"

Celtic managed to carve out a 2-1 win against Aberdeen in trying conditions away at Pittodrie Stadium. A huge 3 points considering the fact that Celtic have the opportunity to virtually end the title race soon if the Rangers keep dropping points.

Rangers did manage to walk out with 1-0 win over Livingston but they’ll know that Celtic have grabbed three points from one of their toughest games of the Scottish season, and with just 11 games to play, they just move a step closer to the title with each game.
