HIT: Neil Lennon

Celtic
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – DECEMBER 08: Neil Lennon, Manager of Celtic celebrates his team’s victory after the Betfred Cup Final between Rangers FC and Celtic FC at Hampden Park on December 08, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Michael Steele/Getty Images) /

For much of the game, it looked like Celtic will be dropping points on the day. And with how dominant Aberdeen looked at times, there were genuine fears that they could drop all three.

The 3-5-2 was clearly not working, with the Hoops happy to launch long balls from deep and hoping that it fell at someone’s feet for the first 60 minutes or so. Changes were clearly needed.

And it was return to the 4-2-3-1 formation that finally gave Celtic the control of the ball and ultimately led to the winner. The manager’s celebrations at the end of the game just showed what it meant to him.

FLOP: Jonny Hayes

The less said about Hayes’ performance today the better. He was absolutely shambolic. His crossing was let-down time after time, he could not find a pass for his life and he squandered a great chance to score when it was 1-1, something that could have cost them dearly on another day.

His performance just shows that Lennon needs to bring Bolingoli back into the first-team fold. There’s no way he could have done worse.
