Rangers fans have had enough of Steven Gerrard after their 2-1 loss against Kilmarnock handed Celtic a 10-point lead in the Scottish Premiership.

It is truly fascinating how quickly things can change in football. Just a little over a month ago Rangers fans were hailing Steven Gerrard as if he was the second coming of Sir Alex Ferguson. They had managed to beat Celtic at Parkhead after almost a decade and following the result, they were sure that the league was coming to Ibrox at the end of the season thereby bringing an end to the Hoops’ dominance over Scottish football as well.

Heading into the winter break, the Rangers fans were on the highest of highs while the media had conveniently written off Celtic’s title chances after one bad result. It didn’t matter that they had won the Premiership title eight years in a row. It didn’t matter that they had won 10 straight domestic titles. The Rangers were headed for the top of the Premiership and nobody could stop them!

Except that they could and it didn’t even take world beaters! Away losses at the hands of Hearts and Kilmarnock, and a draw at home against Aberdeen means that they have dropped 8 points since returning from the winter break, opening up a 10-point gap between the two Glasgow sides.

The wheels quickly are falling off of Rangers’ title race and the fans seem to be starting to lose patience with their manager. Let’s just say that Rangers Twitter was not the happiest place after yesterday’s result.

A huge part of the problem is how rarely Gerrard seems to take responsibility for the Rangers’ losses. More often than not, he is happy to pin the blame on anyone but himself. But as the results start to go south, the fans are starting to see behind the act. And things could turn sour very soon if the gap continues to widen.
